We don't hear too much from North Korea in the automotive realm. The tiny nation is that strange kid that talks to himself on the global playground of international affairs. While we know very little about what life is like within its borders, what we do understand isn't rosy. So what exactly do North Koreans drive? The fine folk at Car and Driver have taken the time to find out and share their research with the rest of us slackers.

Supposedly, there are fewer than 30,000 vehicles within the country, despite the fact that its population is somewhere around 24 million. The few cars that do exist are either blatant knockoffs of Mercedes-Benz or Fiat products from two decades ago or direct imports from companies like Volvo and the Silver Arrow. On the up side, traffic looks mercifully light no matter where you go. Check out the full piece here, and be sure to check out a film for the Pyeonghwa Motors Whistle after the jump.
